Compared to the last regular calf sale four weeks ago, Wednesday's offering traded sharply higher, catching up with big gains over the last month but also reflecting the quality on hand that this sale is always known for. Most of the cattle were in attractive condition and a little wrung out in the midst of this week's heat wave. Much like Monday's yearling sale, buyer numbers weren't excessive but the power wasn't lacking any. Really no weak spot could be detected across any weight or class of cattle but 550-650 lb heifers In particular found a pretty hot ticket. The steer to heifer price spread was much narrower on Wednesday when compared to the early week yearling trade. Supply moderate, demand very good.
