Jefferson City, MO Wed Feb, 26 2025 Green City Livestock Auction Thanksgiving Special - Green City, MO Weighted Average Report for 11/26/2024 Receipts: 3221 Last Week: 3993 Last Year: 0 Green City Livestock held it's annual Thanksgiving Special over the course of the holiday week, featuring yearlings on Tuesday and calves on Friday. Compared to the last regular sale two weeks ago, Tuesday's yearlings traded mostly 10.00 to 15.00 higher. Friday's calf market started off hot and only got better, with most sales trending either side of 20.00 higher, and several spots of light calves seeing an even more dramatic increase. These holiday sales are known for reputation consignments year after year and while numbers were down, quality was outstanding. Most of the offering was sourced from local well known producers and backgrounders, with steers greatly outnumbering heifers as most local strings of heifers moved earlier this fall. Heifer retention doesn't seem to be much of a factor currently, although a couple very attractive groups of heifers specifically sorted off for breeding did find a ride back to the farm, both ringing the bell right at 1900.00 per head. The bulk of the offering was spread across a handful of buyers, but with greater buyer participation on Friday. Supply moderate, demand moderate to good.
